Bodeans Fulham: Feed Your Inner Carnivore

by Lucy Hagger

This post is really not best suited for vegetarians, so avert your eyes.. animals were harmed in the making of this food.

If like me, you are a big lover of a juicy steak, crispy crackling and succulent chicken then you are reading the right post. Bodeans restaurants are meat smoke houses that can be found across London. There are restaurants in Soho, Fulham, London Bridge and Clapham, all with their own individual atmosphere. Being that I live in Hammersmith, the Fulham restaurant is my eatery of choice. From the outside it looks rather squashed between its adjacent buildings and you could easily miss it if you weren’t looking. As soon as you find it you will never miss it again.

I‘ve been to Bodeans many times since its discovery and have tried many of the dishes and have never been disapointed. From pulled pork sandwiches to burnt end and Bodeans’s style burritos, whatever you fancy, your inner carnivore will be drooling and begging for more. Not only is the food great, but so is the atmosphere. The Americana style sports bar decoration provides that unique experience and the staff only add to that brilliantly. If you’re a fan of American sports there’s another advantage for you as there is constant coverage of live baseball and American football on the screens around the restaurant. The place is always packed to the rafters but don’t let that put you off, it only adds to the feel and you are never sat too close to any other tables.

A few tips:

  1. If you’re going, you’re likely to keep going back, so I suggest getting yourself a Bodeans card (you will not regret this). All you need to do is provide an email address (DON’T PANIC! I’ve not received any spam) and the card is yours. With this card you get to enjoy the offers on every day of the week. These include free schnapps, 2-4-1 mains and free sides. What else could you want??
  2. If you’re going for the first time, GET THE SHARING PLATTER! The menu is a little daunting at first so I mainly went for it because it seemed like a safe choice. This platter is something you should not underestimate; it is HUGE. To give you an idea you get half a chicken, pulled pork, baby back ribs, beef ribs, burnt ends, fries, coleslaw and I’m sure more meaty goodness that has blurred into my delicious memories. See  the beauty that is the Bodean’s sharing platter.. and for some scale, the plate in the background is normal sized. I’m also fairly certain it has become bigger since this was taken.
  3. Book in advance! Bodeans is a very popular restaurant and you do not want to be disappointed so make sure you make a reservation! If you are nearby and fancy going, do pop in, you may be very very lucky and manage to squeeze in somewhere. If you have to wait a bit, you should. There are plenty of pubs and bars and sights to see around London and you will not regret the wait when you finally get to experience the feeling of having eaten at Bodeans.

So get yourself and your friends down to a Bodeans to experience authentic and delicious smoked meats, you will not be sorry!
